The topics included the challenges communities face when dealing with homelessness and affordable housing, as well as the steps being taken by local entities to provide solutions to this crisis. Environmental Justice
LWV-CC hosted a free public forum about Environmental Justice on August 22, 2023, at the Plano Environmental Education Center. Local experts spoke about environmental justice, including what it means and how we achieve it through education, activism, and transforming the way we think about our rights to a healthy environment. The guest speakers were Evelyn Mayo, Chair of the Board of Downwinders at Risk; Misti O’Quinn, community organizer and educator with a focus on environmental justice, public health and quality of life; Rita Beving, Lobbyist on environmental issues; and David Griggs, Lone Star Chapter of the Sierra Club.
