Parks and Open Space in Collin County

The LWV of Collin County supports a strong program for the acquisition of open space in Collin County and its towns and cities to ensure that adequate land will be set aside for the purposes of recreation, conservation, and preservation. We advocate:

• A program of land acquisition for parks and open space by the county and cities to supply the needs of a growing population.
• The importance of conservation, recreation, and preservation of natural areas.
• The use of state and federal aid, private donations, land trusts, and other gifts to obtain the land for parks and open space. In addition, other methods such as zoning regulation, tax abatements, easements, etc., should be employed to accomplish this objective.
